On October 12, 2020 local time, Cambodia Prime Minister Hun Sen met with visiting Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi before both sides attended the signing ceremony of China-Cambodia Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The FTA was inked virtually between Chinese Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan and his Cambodian counterpart Pan Sorasak.
Hun Sen said, Cambodia speaks highly of the FTA and FTA is of great economic and political significance. He believes that through the friendly cooperation between the two countries, Cambodia's development will getting better and better.
Wang Yi said, the signing of the FTA has sent a strong signal and it will help Cambodia address challenges brought by the COVID-19 and play a positive role in promoting its economic and social development.
The China-Cambodia FTA is the first-ever bilateral free trade agreement for Cambodia.
