Chinese Embassy in Rwanda has donated materials to Rwamagana district in Eastern Province

On November 24th, H.E. Rao Hongwei, the Ambassador of China in Rwanda, attended the handover ceremony for donation of materials to Rwamagana District in the Eastern Province. Fred Mufulukye, the Governor of Eastern Province in Rwanda, Uwamariya Odette, Member of the House of Representatives, Radjab Mbonyumuvunyi, the mayor of Rwamagana District, and nearly 300 people, including representatives of the recipients, participated in the event.

In his speech, Ambassador Rao said that Rwanda has made great achievements in poverty reduction during the last 25 years. Rwanda's "Home Grown Solution" project has played a key role in the process of rapid social and economic development in Rwanda. I visited the Eastern Province in June this year and I was deeply impressed by the efforts of the local government to support the development of the poor people. In response to the needs of Rwamagana District, the Chinese Embassy has now donated cement, sewing machines, chairs and school bags, which will provide real support to the local people.

Ambassador Rao also introduced China's poverty alleviation process and development experience, saying that the people of China and Rwanda are self-reliant and striving for a happy life. The Chinese Embassy in Rwanda will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the district.

The Governor of the Eastern Province and the Mayor of Rwamagana District expressed sincere gratitude to the Chinese Embassy for their active contribution to the development of the district. They expressed that the beneficiaries of the donation are the key supporters of collective action and mutual support "ubudehe", one of the Rwanda's "home grown solutions". It embodies the brotherly friendship of the Chinese people to the people of Rwanda. The donated materials will improve working and living conditions of the extremely poor people, women's association, schools, etc., and help sustainable development in the region, they said.

The atmosphere at the donation site was warm and friendly. The local people warmly invited the diplomats of the embassy to dance together the Rwandan traditional dance "Intore", in order to express a warm welcome to the Chinese guests and sincere gratitude to the Chinese embassy. Feelings of joy from the representatives of beneficiaries spoke for themselves, they said that China's support will help them improve their capabilities and boost their own development.
