Embassy of China in Rwanda Hosted Seeing-off Reception for the Chinese Scholarship Awarding Students of Rwanda

On August 23rd, 2019, the Chinese Embassy in Rwanda hosted seeing-off reception in honor of the Chinese scholarships awarding students of Rwanda. Over 100 attendants of students, representatives from Rwandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Rwandan High Education Council, Rwanda-China Alumni Organization (RCAO), as well as Confucius Institute attended the event.

H.E. RAO Hongwei, Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda addressed on the event, he said that strong youth made a strong country. Providing more educational opportunities for Rwandan youth was an important aspect in China Rwanda cooperation. About 200 Rwandan students would go to China for studies with different scholarships of the year 2019. China in recent years had continually supported Rwandan education development through different ways including providing secondary school scholarships and TVET training. The number of registered students in Confucius Institute at the University of Rwanda reached 5100. These figures proved that China-Rwanda educational and cultural cooperation was full of vitality and enjoy huge potential and a promising future. Ambassador RAO hoped the students could grasp the opportunity, aim high and study hard. With the knowledge and skills acquired, they would be the participator, contributors and builders for China-Rwanda friendship.

Dr. Emmanuel MUVUNYIHEC, Executive Director of Rwanda High Examination Council and Mr. Theoneste HIGANIRO, Chairman of RCAO awarding students addressed on the reception respectively. They expressed their appreciation to the Chinese side for the strong support in the human resources development and encouraged the Rwandan students to adapt to the new environment in China and make the best use of time in universities, learn comprehensively about China in all aspects, and become "ambassadors" to promote the image of Rwanda as well as the China-Rwanda friendship.

The representative of the scholarship awarding students sincerely thanked the Chinese government and the people for providing Rwandan students with precious opportunities to study in China. They determined to study hard, overcome difficulties, live up to the expectation of the country, and make contributions to Rwandan social economic development and good relations between China and Rwanda.
