H.E. RAO Hongwei Attended the First Golden Business Forum

On August 9th 2019, H.E. RAO Hongwei, Ambassador of China to Rwanda, attended the first Golden Business Forum organised by Rwanda Overseas Chinese Association and Rwandan Private Sector Federation. President Paul Kagame, Soraya Hakuziyaremye, Minister of Trade and Industry, Uzziel Ndagijimana, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Claver Gatete, Minister of Infrastructure, Paula Ingabire, Minister of ICT &Innovation, Olivier Nduhungirehe, Minister of state in Charge of Easter African Community together with over 400 invitees from China and Africa business community attended.


Ambassador RAO Hongwei introduced in his speech the fruitful achievement China and Africa in trade and investment cooperation in recent years, as well as the stable and healthy development of the economy of China in the first half of 2019, stressed that as the biggest developing country in the world, China would take the attitude of a great nation of responsibility and justice, together with other peace-loving, fairness-seeking and forward-looking countries, to safeguard the international trade system and multilateral economic order, and fight against economic hegemony, bullying, protectionism, and unilateralism.


Ambassador RAO said, this year marked the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Today's China was the world's second-largest economy, accounting for 16% of the world GDP, ranking No.1 in terms of merchandise trade, manufacturing capacity and foreign exchange reserves. With its own development, China remained committed to win-win cooperation and standed ready to share its development opportunities through further opening up, import more from African countries by means including hosting International Import Expos and China-Africa Trade and Economic Forum, and made its positive contribution to boost the confidence in the inclusive and balanced economic growth in the world. China was ready to join hands with African countries, in the spirit of openness, cooperation, consultation and partnership, to make more contribution to our economic and trade cooperation as well as the friendship between the peoples.


Since the successful state visit paid by Chinese President H.E. XI Jinping to Rwanda in July 2019, China-Rwanda bilateral relations has entered the best period in history and cooperation and exchanges in various fields stepped into the fast track. Business exchanges and Chinese enterprises investment to Rwanda has witnessed sharp increase. Over 50 businessmen from China attended this Forum.
