On June 17,2023, H.E.Mr Wang Xuekun attended the donation ceremony of Chinese community in Rwanda to GS St.Paul Rurembo School, which is located in Nyabihu District, Western Province of Rwanda and affected seriously by floods and landslides in early May of this year, and gave an address. Nyabihu District Mayor Ms. Antoinette Mukandayisenga, the representatives of Chinese Association in Rwanda and around 200 school teachers and students altogether witnessed the ceremony.

In his address, Ambassador Wang noted the immense losses and property damage caused by the disaster, and said that President Xi Jinping on behalf of the Chinese government and people sent a message to Rwandan President Paul Kagame, expressed deep condolences to the victims and sincere sympathies to the bereaved families, the injured and the affected people. He further emphasized that children are the future and hope of the nation, and their physical and mental health, as well as their growth, have always been the focus of attention from all walks of society. He highlighted the significance of GS St. Paul Rurembo School as an important educational institution in the local area, with over 1,800 students and 39 classrooms, despite limited resources. This led the Chinese Association in Rwanda to pay attention to such issues and strongly believe that they should also assume their social responsibilities and give back to society, hence the initiation of the charity activity.

Mayor Mukandayisenga appreciated the help and support to the affected community and stressed that the friendship of Chinese and Rwandans will bring more benefit to both countries and their people.
