Amb. RAO Hongwei Meets with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

On May 4th, 2021, H. E. RAO Hongwei, Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, met with Ms. Clémentine MUKEKA, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda.

Ms. MUKEKA said, the COVID-19 pandemic is having profound impact on the world and has brought severe challenges to all countries. I would like to commend China on the successful containment of the pandemic. China has been supporting Rwanda in fighting against COVID-19, and Rwanda is willing to continue to cooperate with China on COVID-19 response.

Ambassador RAO said, under the strong leadership of the Rwandan government, Rwanda has effectively controlled the spread of COVID-19, taking lead in Africa and even the world in terms of pandemic containment. It creates good environment for revitalizing the economy and preparing for major events. China remains committed to work together with Rwanda in the fight against the pandemic, as well as to support Rwanda's post-COVID reconstruction and development.

Both sides exchanged views on China-Rwanda relations, China-Africa relations and other issues of common concern.
