The Chinese Embassy in Rwanda Gives Interview to the Rwandan Media on the Novel Coronavirus Epidemic

On 5 February 2020, Mr. Wang Jiaxin, the Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Rwanda, gave interview to KT Press of Rwanda, where he answered relevant questions about the ground situation of the outbreak epidemic caused by the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) and highlighted the robust response measures taken by the Chinese Government.

Counselor Wang Jiaxin stressed that the Chinese Government has attached great importance to the prevention and control of the outbreak epidemic. Chinese President Xi Jinping has given several important instructions. With a high sense of responsibility for people's safety and health, the CPC Central Committee and local authorities has been taking the most comprehensive, rigorous and effective measures promptly, to ensure its efforts to curb the spread of the epidemic. The Chinese Government has the full confidence, capacity and determination to defeat the outbreak epidemic at an early date.

Counselor Wang Jiaxin also noted that, the Chinese Government has been carrying out international cooperation with openness, transparency and high sense of responsibility consistently, which set a new standard for outbreak response and was highly praised by WHO and the international community. Meanwhile, the Chinese Government has always given great importance to the health and safety of Rwandan people and other foreign nationals in China. To address their concerns and needs timely, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China has held a number of meetings and briefing conferences with the foreign embassies in China regarding the epidemic prevention and control. The Chinese Government will ensure the safety of every foreign national living in China in the manner of responsibility.

During the interview, Counselor Wang Jiaxin also answered questions regarding the connection between the novel coronavirus and SARS, the diagnoses and treatments of the pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus, the condition of the Rwandans in China, the response measures taken by the Chinese Embassy in Rwanda, and the possible impact of the epidemic on China's economy, etc.
