2020/10/20

This serves to notify that:

In order to provide more standard, orderly service of better quality to the applicants for a China visa, this Embassy will launch the China Online Visa Application (COVA) and Appointment for Visa Application Submission (AVAS) recently.

In order to allow some time for the applicants to better understand and get familiarized with the new arrangement, the Embassy has designated the period between November 2nd and December 1st 2020 as the transitional period.  During the transitional period, applicants can still use the current hard copy application forms of version 2013 to the Embassy, without any online appointment.

However, please also note that applicants who choose to complete their online visa application forms at https://cova.cs.mfa.gov.cn during the transitional period must secure their appointments for visa application at https://avas.cs.mfa.gov.cn.

From December 2nd, the embassy will not receive the current hard copy application form any more.

I. How to use COVA and AVAS:Applicants could log on the website  https://cova.cs.mfa.gov.cn to fill in the application form, and go to the AVAS system with the link or log on the website https://avas.cs.mfa.gov.cn to reserve the application time.

II. The applicants are requested to print out the confirmation page and application forms , then sign the confirmation page, before bringing all the above, as well as the passports and other supporting documents for submission to the Embassy.

III. Please note that there are two clauses of exception in the above arrangement:

i.Applicants who apply for the visas to the two Chinese Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau do not need to complete their online visa application forms or reserve on line.

ii.Applicants holding diplomatic/official passports or the diplomatic/official visa applicants need to fill in the application form on line but they do not need to secure their appointments for visa application.
